Masia d´en Giralt has been inhabited continuously since that time, with the latest restoration completed in 2006. Mas d'en Giralt has original outbuildings and an ancient chapel dedicated to various saints, complete with frescoes dating from 1828 showing images of St. James, St. Thomas Aquinas, La Virgen del Carmen, the Virgin of Montserrat, Santa Barbara, the Immaculate Virgin and San Antonio de Padua.
Mas d'en Giralt was constructed using local materials sourced from the surrounding land. Stone was used from the limestone quarry located on the property, and pine beams produced from wood taken from the forests surrounding the house.
In recent years the owners have worked to make the house as eco-friendly and self-sufficient as possible through the installation of solar electricity and rainwater recycling.
The gardens have been stocked with native plants, many of them medicinal.
Mas d'en Giralt nestles in a truly privileged position amongst vineyards just north of Sant Pere de Ribes and only 10kms from the beaches of Sitges. The house enjoys a beautiful rural setting in the Garraf Natural Park, surrounded by pine forests and vineyards growing the white Mediterranean native strains used in the production of the renowned Penedès red and white wines.
Despite its secluded rural location, Mas d'en Giralt is only a 10-minute drive to the highly popular holiday resort of Sitges, 30 minutes to Barcelona Airport, 40 minutes to the city of Barcelona and a few minutes to two major motorways.
The Masia offers 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There are two large living rooms with traditional high beamed ceilings, one with the original drawings on the wall and a large woodburner, the other opening out onto the lovely gardens at the back of the house and featuring a rustic fireplace for those cooler out of season evenings.
The Masia is entered through the large dining room. To the left, through the original front door, is the very rustic kitchen with a step up dining area and larder room at the back.
To the right of the dining room a few steps up take you to the first of the living rooms with original drawings dated back to 18th century and a wood burning stove. The living room has a wonderful floor to ceiling window, making the room full of light and giving a sense of space.
At the back of the dining area there are steps down to the second of the two living rooms. This is an impressive room full of original features. There are seating areas, a large fireplace, a selection of books and a door leading out to the gardens.
Next to this sitting room is the first bathroom featuring a shower, plenty of character and high beams.
There are 5 double bedrooms in total, all very large and bright and with character windows and high ceilings.
The Master suite is very spacious with high beamed ceilings and a large bathroom. The bathroom has two doors one from the Master suite and the other leading to a hallway where two other bedrooms are situated. Bedroom 4 and 5 are connecting.
The beautiful gardens are well stocked with natural Mediterranean plants and offer sunbathing areas, cool shady spots and secluded seating and dining areas. The huge network of hiking trails on the Garraf Natural Park can be accessed directly from the garden.
