Fornalutx

Fornalutx is located in the centre of the Tramuntana Mountains, which stretch from one end of Mallorca to the other. The town is surrounded by a deep valley that starts in the Puig Major and finishes in Saller.

Fornalutx and the surrounding area can be considered without doubt a site of great landscape and architectural interest.

About town
This little town has less than 1000 inhabitants. The number of different nationalities has grown in the past years with the increase in the mainly foreign population. This is due to the tourist attraction of the town.

This town is so charming, you can find cobbled streets and stairs of the old town decorated by ceramics, flowers and plants; old stone houses with their doors always wide opened; lush vegetation of terraces and gardens where oranges grow. The architectural and natural landscape is really interesting and surprising.

Eating out
There are several terrace restaurants and bars in Fornalutx where you can sit and soak in the views of olive and orange groves climbing ever higher until they reach the pine-clad foothills of Puig Major.

Places of Interest
The nearest town of Biniaraix is very beautiful and where you can start some famous hikes of the island: the excursion of the "Barranc de Biniaraix" to the top of the "Ofre", is a mountain of several
thousands metres high.

In Fornalutx, you have nothing to lose and so much to gain!

Cuisine
Traditional food is being rediscovered in the Balearics, which varies from island to island, but reflects the cuisine of Catalonia, with its combination of sweet and savoury.

Pork is a main ingredient and vegetable dishes and soups are also typical.  Try the Langosta a
la Parilla which partners spiny lobster with local home made mayonnaise.  A must try is an ensaimada (a spiral-shaped yeast bun) with your breakfast.

Climate
Mallorca enjoys a typical Mediterranean weather, with mild winters and hot summers. During the months of July and August, the weather is hot and beautifully sunny, boasting around 11 hours of sun daily.

During the winter, the weather can get chilly, but is generally you can enjoy fine, mild weather on most days.
