Pineda de Mar

Pineda de Mar is a charming seaside resort situated on the Costa Maresme, which is located at the southern end of the Costa Brava. The town is set between Blanes and Callela and is just 45 kilometres from Girona Airport and 55 kilometres from the city of Barcelona.

Pineda de Mar is a popular destination for Spanish holidaymakers, enjoying a long, golden sandy beach, good selection of restaurants and bars, and surrounded by the the beautiful Montenegre National Park.


About town
Pineda de Mar has a history spanning back over 2,000 years and there are a number of interesting cultural monuments and buildings to visit, which tell a little of the town’s history.

The town is very pleasant and relaxed with lots of squares and gardens. There is a good selection of shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants; the resort is very well equipped and ideal for families.


Beaches
The main beach of Pineda de Mar is a long stretch of golden sand, it is a peaceful beach, which even in the height of summer doesn’t get overcrowded. The beach has been awarded with the European Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Scuba divers can take a trip out to the Medes Islands; a protected maritime area situated offshore, where the scuba diving is excellent.


Eating out
Pineda de Mar has an excellent selection of restaurants and tapas bars. The seafood choice is extensive and family run fish restaurants serve up delicious dishes at good value prices. There is also a choice of international cuisine in town.
 
The nightlife is very laidback and will suit families and those looking for a relaxing holiday. If you want to enjoy a more upbeat night out then you can visit the neighbouring resort of Lloret de Mar.

Climate
Blanes enjoys an agreeable Mediterranean climate with long warm summers tempered by cooling sea breezes, glorious mild autumn and spring days and winters that can be windy, wet, and suddenly sunny.
